  • Overview

    American Cruise Lines is seeking Licensed Launch Operators aboard its growing fleet of small cruise ships. Launch Operators will be responsible for tendering passengers ashore when at anchor, in addition to all other deckhand duties. Each launch carries between 30 and 40 passengers and is stowed aboard the cruise ship. This position is ideal for recent maritime graduates who are seeking to gain experience at sea and increase their license tonnage. In addition to operating the launch, individuals in this position will spend time on the cruise ship bridge. Each cruise ship carries between 100 and 185 passengers on 7 to 14 night cruises operating in unique areas around the country.
     
    This is a temporary 16-week position with further growth potential following your first 16 weeks. This is an opportunity for licensed individuals to begin a career path with a great company. Launch Operators have the potential to earn $770- $910 per week. Training along with Room and Board are provided at no charge. This is a great way to make and save money while traveling the United States.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsibility for tendering passengers and crew between the ship and shore while at anchor
    • Participating in steering the ship
    • Participates with docking and anchoring maneuvers: handling lines, gangways, anchors, etc.
    • Standing watches: gangway and deck watch. These watches include security, maintenance and passenger assistance duties
    • Loading and unloading passenger luggage, ship stores, etc.
    • Maintenance, painting, cleaning, lifting lines and other heavy objects
    • Various additional duties relating to the navigation and handling of the ship
    • Customer Service

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 25 ton USCG license
    • High School Graduate
    • At least 18 years of age
    • Pass a pre-employment drug test
    • Physically strong, with stamina to work long hours
    • Well groomed neat appearance
    • Friendly and outgoing
    • Strong communication skills
    • College experience preferred
    • US Citizenship or legally authorized to work in the United States
    • Ability to clearly speak and write the English Language
