  • Overview

    American Cruise Lines is adding Junior Mates to join its brand new ships on the coasts and rivers of the United States. We deliver highly customized experiences to each guest on our small, luxury ships. We offer over 30 unique 7 to 14 night itineraries on the East Coast, Pacific Northwest and Mississippi River. Each ship carries between 100 and 200 passengers under a US flag. Each ship is equipped with the latest safety, navigation, and communications systems. American Cruise Lines currently has 10 ships in service and 3 under construction.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsibility for tendering passengers and crew between the ship and shore while a anchor
    • Anchor watches when not handling launch
    • Participating in steering the ship
    • Participates with docking and anchoring maneuvers: handling lines, gangways, anchors, ect. 
    • Standing watches: gangway and deck watch. These watches include security, maintenance and passenger assistance duties 
    • Loading and unloading passenger luggage, ship stores, ect. 
    • Maintenance, painting, cleaning, lifting lines and other heavy objects
    • Various additional duties relating to the navigational and handling of the ship 
    • Customer Service 

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 25 ton USCG Master's license
    • TWIC Card 
    • Graduate of a Maritime Academy or professional experience as a launch operator
    • High School graduate
    • Pass a pre-employment drug test
    • Physically strong, with stamina to work long hours, lift 50 pounds
    • Well groomed neat appearance 
    • Friendly and out going
    • Strong communication skills
    • College experience preferred 
    • US Citizenship or legally authorized to work in the United States 
    • Ability to clearly speak and write the English language
